Bang Cock Part 2: Reflection Rooms Bangkok

One of main highlights I was very much anticipating for is my hotel room in Bangkok. Reflection Rooms is not the ordinary hotels you stayed before. Each and every room does not look the same. You would not find a room that is exactly the same out of the 30 rooms they have. Each and every room is unique. This is what people termed as 'boutique hotel'.

I went through their website to search for my most favourite room. I reclicked and revisited their websites every Sunday morning during my exams period to pick my favourite room. And everytime after that, I had a glee feeling in me that I had to hold on so tightly so that I would not call Bean to wake him up from his beauty sleep. And everytime I had successfully waited for Bean to wake up and call me, I could not wait but to blurt out, 'BABBYYYYY.. Let's go Bangkok!!!!!!!!! I wanna stay in Reflection Rooms!!!!!!' What other reaction would I get from my lovely man besides 'emmmm...'?

Oh oh... my favourite room was #211. This room was just what I needed to recover my mind from the hectic stressful exams that I had. From the look of it, I could feel the serenity and peacefulness.

But sad to say... the room was not available. *sulks*

I had no choice but to repick another room eventhough I tried to whine and sulk. In the end I chose a naked fat lady room, Miss Lily.

Though I still very much prefer my first choice but I quite like this room as well. It as actually a very romantic room. What other room fits our purpose of having a romantic getaway better than this? There were portraits and portraits of the naked fat lady on every slab of walls in the room. Each lamp was dimmed with yellow lights to further romance the room.

The room had the basic TV and DVD player ( You can pick some DVDs at the reception and bring it back to your room to watch. What I love most about it is there is no trouble of registering what DVDs you took or any sort. Just pick the DVD of your choice!) Or you could be like my boyfriend who enjoyed watching Sidartha Gautama (Buddhism) on National Geographic. You could not believe how much he enjoyed it. He was eating chips while watching it! And I fell asleep. =P ( WHAT!!! I already knew the story from high school Sejarah classes and also the show 'Journey To The West' Haha...)

The condition of the room was top notch. And perfectly clean. For a fussy person like me who does not use coffee shop's toilet because it is so darn dirty or being a little uncomfortable if I see cobwebs, believe me when I say the room is perfectly clean. I only have one complain about this room. The toilet's piping wasn't in place very well. It kinda stink up the whole toilet. I pinched my nose tight whenever I use the toilet. I am serious when I said it stinks! Besides that, the room was just perfect for us.

What amazed me most was the customer service they provided us. We enquired a million questions- tuk-tuk ride, train ride, taxi ride and they answered each and every one of it patiently. When they asked us if we needed to catch a tuk-tuk, I thought they would give a call to some call center and send one over but what they did was standing in the middle of the road to wave a tuk-tuk for us! All we needed to do was to stand under the shade. I felt a bit bad!

Besides that, they provide massage services. A Thai massage ONLY cost 200baht an hour. So damn cheap!!! Not forgetting I lurrrrveeeee massages!! O.M.G... both Bean and I enjoyed it so much. I kinda indirectly embarassed myself. The fella was massaging, massaging and I was enjoying until the fella freaking used two huge palm and pressed on my two thighs simultaneously. I honestly tried but I ended up laughing really really loudly because it was damn bloody ticklish! I think I shocked the fella. OOpsi... I said sorry anyway!

All in all... the stay in Reflection Hotel was really great. The only con was the hotel was a bit off the city and most of the taxi or tuk-tuk driver would have no idea where the hell is the hotel.

Bean: Reflection Hotel, Pradiphat Road!
Driver: ?????? Pradiphat Hotel???
Bean: Noooooo!

In the end, we were the one who found the hotel by ourself. Okay... let's not minus the fact the taxi driver took us to Pradipat Road. If not we would not even have ended up in Pradipat Road. Anyway, if you are someone who have a chance to travel to Bangkok and are bored in staying the normal four walls hotel, I highly recommend you this!

Rooms Rate
#211 (Grey Day)- 1850 baht per night (Breakfast included)
#205 (Miss Lily)- 2250 baht per night (Breakfast included)

Taxi Ride
From airport: About 600 baht
Because they start the meter at a higher price. About 150 baht I think! Idiot. If can, try to wave for your own taxi instead of queing up in the common taxi stand. I suggest you to try your luck and wave your taxi at the departure hall instead of the arrival hall. Oh oh... do not fall into those pretty girls wearing uniform providing you taxi! They charged at a very expensive rate! Probably their taxi looks better but is certainly very ridiculous to pay 1200baht for the ride! You have to pay extra 50baht if you catch a taxi from the airport as well as the tolls (To Reflection Hotel, the taxi will pass two tolls for a total of 120 baht I think!)

To airport: About 300 baht.
The meter starts from about 35 baht i think. Basically way lower than the taxi we took from the airport. Remember to only ride in taxis that charge by meter!

Dear Miss Pharmacist,

I so enjoyed reading your review of the Reflections Hotel. I stayed at the hotel (the old hotel- did you know?) which was incredible. I enjoyed everyday coming to the hotel after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The old hotel had an incredible spa that took all the stress of my 17 hour direct flight from NYC away.

I will be going backt to the hotel in Jan 2009 and have to say hesitated, since it is a whole new establishment and considering my touch of OCD. However, after reading your review, a smile came to my face. I guess it is still the reflections hotel I still remember. I already feel relaxed just thinking of my first Thai vacation two years past.

Thanks again for posting about your experience.
