I have read through some tips on trip advisor about not wearing shorts, not getting conned, not wearing open toes shoes and yadda yadda yadda. It was pretty informative until the day before I flew to Bangkok, I realised I did not bring back my sport shoes. My range of footwears were heels, heels and pretty much heels. In the end I thought a great idea of bringing socks. And HA! I did not even have a pair of socks back home and I had to borrow the pair of pink socks from my mum! Enough about the footwear because I did not even have to wear close toes shoes.
We took the cab directly to the Grand Palace but we were pretty lost on where the hell was the entrance. A tuk-tuk driver kept pointing to the right side and I saw a whole bunch of tourist walking to the same direction made me think that the entrance was really in that direction! Halfway while walking and doubting, a man wearing a 'Grand Palace' uniform came to attend the two blur headed tourists. He was totally sweet opening up umbrellas so that we do not have to stand under the sun and started explaining to us where was the entrance until...
Grand Palace Man: Oh... now the temple is not open for tourists until 2.00pm.
Bean and I: Huh?
Grand Palace Man: Because the King's sister died!
Stupid idiot tried to con us to some what standing buddha which was few hundred miles away. Idiot! Honestly, he looked freaking genuine but we were smart enough to escape from him! Again... idiot!
Anyhow, we managed to get rid of the con man and found our way to the Grand Palace. We had to rent sarong and pants because Bean was wearing shorts and I was actually wearing leggings. They did not state no leggings allowed also! They said no shorts only what! Arrghhh.. It was bloody hot to wear the sarong on top of my leggings adding to the hot weather in Bangkok! But thank god the sarong was not as ugly looking as I was expecting.
So what is so great about the Grand Palace? It was pretty facinating for the first 10 minutes I was there but the hot weather was really catching on to me. Plus the temples kinda looked the same. =P You judge it for yourself... pictures starting from here...
Wat Pho was a painful 20 minutes walk from the Grand Palace. The painful thing was there were millions of idiots trying to show us the wrong direction when there was a sign clearly indicating that both of us were walking towards the right direction! I hope they do not believe in karma! Ish... Anyway... the main attraction in Wat Pho is the reclining Buddha.
Admission Fee
Grand Palace: 300baht
Wat Pho: 50baht
Opening Hours

No shorts/skirts/anything that shows off your beautiful legs. You can show them off in some other places.
You can rent their sarongs (for females) or pants (for males) at no cost. However, you are required to place a deposit which you can claim back at the end of your little tour.
**DO NOT TRUST ANYONE! They will tell you something like 'the temple is closed for some special function' and they will recommend you to visit some other temples instead that requires you to take tuk-tuk! Just try to figure your way out and you will be fine. The more tourists you see, the better chances you are in the right place.
