Oregano, Lemon Rind & Garlic Lamb Cutlets on Bed of Mash

Christmas season is here and since I haven't been spending my time with my housemates, I thought of cooking a nice meal for them.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

Lamb:
24 Lamb Cutlets (seasoned with salt & pepper)
Bunch of Oregano (picked and the stems are thrown away)
1 cup of Lemon Rind (thinly sliced)
Half garlic (sliced)
Olive oil

Mash Potatoes:
6 potatoes (peeled and sliced into half)
Milk
Butter
Salt and Pepper

1. Heat pan with about 5 tablespoons of olive oil.
2. Pan fry oregano, lemon rind and sliced garlic till is golden brown. Scoop them up leaving the oil in the pan.
3. Pre heat grilled oven to 150 degrees.
4. Pan fry lamb cutlets on both side for about 3-4 minutes till golden brown.
5. Remove pan fried lamb cutlets and place them onto a tray. Leave oil in pan.
6. Grill them in oven for another 15 minutes till side crisp.
7. Return pan on the stove, place the fried oregano, lemon rind and sliced garlic onto pan and coat them with the excess oil.

1. Place potatoes into hot boiling water till they are soft.
2. Drain the water and mashed them accordingly.
3. Place mash in pot onto stove. While heating up, stir in milk and butter enough for them to be smooth and soft.
4. Season with salt and pepper.

I am surprised and glad it turned out. I am now figuring out my next recipe!!

Special thanks to my sous chef, Bryan Wong.

PS: This recipe is referenced from Donna Hay's cookbook.

Time Of The Year AGAIN!

This is the time of the year again which I rant about exams AGAIN! Ugh... is disgusting and horrifying. Seriously. With the progress I am going now and the informations which are willing to be kept in my head are so minimal. Failing is not an option but looks like a possibility. Hopefully after ranting, my brain cells are picking up that I am shitting myself and they will be good at remembering facts. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain are my least favourite words right now! GRRRR!!!

On a happier note, I am a licensed Victorian driver. Wooohooo!

Maze by Gordon Ramsey

Gordon Ramsey... Gordon Ramsey... Gordon Ramsey...

How do I even begin to write my wonderful experience for this entry? I guess by typing out his name three times has shown how deeply indulged I was in his restaurant!

Gordon Ramsey has recently opened his new restaurant, Maze in Crown Metropol. I am glad he did because if not I wouldn't know when my Bean would fly me to London to dine in his restaurant. *hint hint*

Maze entrance was simple but yet elegant. The environment was perfectly settled with dim yellow lights and soft music background humming through your ears. We were politely seated at our table. All our jackets and scarves were nicely tucked away in a wardrobe. Then we had someone to go through the menu with us, explaining to us what every dish were and advised us on how to pick the dishes. But all of us dive in for the Chef's Menu. Simple. Get to taste everything! Yumsss!!

The Degustation Menu consists of 7 courses. 3 appetizers, 2 main courses and 2 desserts. Portions are small but just enough to fill us up. Pictures time but I would not describe the taste of it. Leave to the people who wants to experience them personally.

Marinated beetroot with goats curd,
cabernet sauvignon vinaigrette, toasted pine nuts

Seared yellow fin tuna,
white radish, yuzu, enoki mushrooms, black garlic

Pan seared scallop,
caramelised kelp, samphire, mussels,
Champagne

Pan roasted barramundi,
butternut squash, compressed cucumber,
pumpkin seeds

Lamb cannon and shoulder, cauliflower purée, anchovy, stinging nettles

Exotic fruit vacherin, passion fruit and banana sorbet

maze “lamington”, rosella jam

I assume this is a cleaning palate. Is a white chocolate ball but filled with sorbet. I could pop like 10 more of this but sadly, only one per person. It tasted damn bloody good!

It was really an amazing experience for me especially after watching Hell's Kitchen. The food looked simple but tasted amazing. Your taste buds just went *bam* *bam* *bam*

And come on... everybody loves Gordon Ramsey!

I got the news right after I dine in Maze by Gordon Ramsey. Everybody knew how much I love this chef. Dining in his restaurant is the most amazing experience ever! Right after I finished my dessert, I received an email from the immigration department. Most blissful moment ever! The heaviest rock on my chest has finally lifted!

Best day of my life comes with huge impulse! I will be flying back to KL in three weeks time!

Month of July will be crazy!

Seminars. First Aid Course. Meetings. Ski Trip. Malaysia.

Sponge Mesh

This house has a new obsession...

My housemate influenced me into this. I saw these selling at my pharmacy and I bought one back to try. I fell in love with it on the very first time I used it. I then lured my other housemate into this by buying one back for him.

So we are now officially loofahs users!

These loofahs really save up body shampoo. Just one pump and is enough for a clean shower. And is sooooo much cleaner using the loofah. The body just seems so much smoother! Not to mention the amount of bubbles they form. It is freaking AMAZING!!!! Totally in love!!!

Bubbles = Happiness = Champagne

Graduation Pictures

The new apartment that I am renting right now is pretty high class. I am saying that because this building has concierge. =D This compensate for the expensive rent that I am squeezing out of my pocket! Honestly, having a concierge in the building is the best! My graduation pictures has recently arrived and it came in by registered post. I am usually not home till like late 7.00pm. Nevermind. I had the concierge to receive my parcel! Yay! It saved me the trouble of collecting them from the post office! And then I have someone to greet me every morning when I am on my way out!

Anyway, ever since my graduation ceremony I have been anticipating the arrival of my official graduation pictures taken by professional photographer. It was rather expensive but it was all worth it when I saw the pictures. They look so pretty!! Especially the picture of Bean and I. I finally have a picture of him and me in my room!

I love the picture so much that I quickly went and bought a photo frame to protect it. I spent $30 on the photo frame (it was on 50% off which Bean STILL complains that it was expensive! which ALL my friends said it was a very beautiful frame which was an opinion that I did not ask from them!). So bottom line is- I spent on a very worth it beautiful frame for a picture of US!

A month back when I was choosing which picture to be reprinted, I thought of getting one for Bean as well so that he could keep one for himself.

Bean: Okay. I will keep it in my room.
Mum: Tell Bean if he keeps in the room who's going to see it!
Me: Mum asked who is going to see the picture if you keep it in your room?
Bean: Fine! I will put it on my office table!

Wahahahaha... Somehow I know this fella going to give me some stupid reason of not doing it. And the email went...

Wahahahaa... Both email he replied, 'OH NOOOOOOOOOO'

LOL!!! Funniest email ever!

Day 3 Without My Best Friend

Dear Sui Po,

Today was my first trainee meeting. Guess what was the first thing I saw? An excel folder was opened and there was your name- big and clear. It was the list of all the intern and student pharmacists name. Sigh... everyday I live my days being reminded that you are not with me.

This meeting actually freak me out. There are so much to do in such short span of time. They can't help it but kept repeating... 'By the end of this meeting, you should be shit out', 'Exams is in 13 weeks!', 'Have you read Guidelines 5.3.3.3?'. Geee!!! Give me a freaking break! Ugh. Trainee year sucks! Hopefully your intern year will be better than mine!

Dinner is done. Our naked chef cooked today. Talk to you soon!

Love,
Sei Po

Day 1 Without My Best Friend

Dear Sui Po,

It has been 21.5 hours since you left me. I went through the day just fine but each time my eyes land on the picture frame you bought for me, the reality hits me again that you have left for good. The picture was meant to be for you to bring it back home so that you would have some sort of our memories that we built together! Now you are forcing me to stare at your face everyday. How can I not miss you like that?

And just now I passed by the Lonsdale St's Hungry Jack's. The memory of four years ago came pouring in. Our first 'Welcome Ball'. You were in your Miss Selfridge dress looking gorgeous. At that time I was the skinny walking stick. Ugh. I don't understand how I could stand myself back then. Anyway, that moment was pleasant. Because it was about you and me.

Love,
Sei Po

Ikea The Place To Be

It was the only day that I could sleep in till god knows what time. Eventhough I slept till 11.00am, it still doesn't feel enough to recharge my energy which I had used up throughout the week for work. Full time job sux in a way that it doesn't allow you to take any afternoon nap. And I am an afternoon napper. Blekz.

I slept till 11.00am and was too excited to head to Ikea with my friends for brunch and some shopping. I reallllyyyy love their meat balls! And their never ending Lipton tea supply. Ahhh... bliss! After the meals, we did a quick tour around Ikea. I was eyeing for a document tray. One thing I love about Ikea is their stuff are at such a reasonable price with fantastically beautiful design. The document tray that I found in the city was priced at $13.00 per tray. I needed three trays which would ended up costing me $39.00. No way I would pay such a price!! Ikea's dokument tray (that's the way Ikea name it) cost only $15.00 and look way more beautiful than the ones I found in the city!

Then Ikea sucked me into buying a pot of Thyme, a candle plate and a candle. Bean asked what was the candle for buy which I replied, 'Oh... I bought candle so that I could save electricity! Got scent one! And it was on discount! Two bucks!' Bean retorted, 'You bought it because of the discount la!'

Whatever man!

The worst part is Ikea sucked us into buying their Ikea friends. Each stuffed toys cost $0.49. I had no idea who came up with the idea of 'why-not-all-of-us-buy-one-and-we-will-bring-it-along-after-three-years-for-reunion?' We ended up having five of them. Each representing one of us. To prevent us losing them and replace them with a new one from Ikea, we are planning to plant a signature on the stuffed toys. Haha...

The bear, the hippo, the croc, the elephant and the lion will be reunited again in three years along with my friends and I.
