Tesselaar Tulip Festival

The annoying ring tone of my handphone woke me up indicating it was time to get up for the road trip to the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival. The sky wasn't too happy that day. Dark, gloomy and wet were the words to describe what I saw when I opened my eyes. It was 7.30am. With only barely six hours of sleep, I forced myself out of the bed. I put on my intended outfit though it was a totally wrong outfit for the weather. Spaghetti straps. I don't care! I want to look good in the pictures! Then, I took a tram down to the city with two of my friends to pick up our rented car. Errr... I think it was a Subaru!

This road trip was planned for five of us but unfortunately one had to back out due to migraine! Left back four of us to continue with the trip. Oh no... our most talented navigator was gone! But thank god we could manage our way there! I became the first driver of the day. We picked up our friend from his place and we had to turn to the right from his place. Basically I had to cut across two lanes plus two tramlines. I looked left and right and left again. Road was clear without cars and tramlines was clear without trams. I exerted force on the accelerator and WAHHHHHHHH!!! a tram was coming! Oh crap! I was blocking the tram and I could not go into my lane because there were cars blocking! Where the hell did the tram and cars come from?!!! All of us had our first heart attack of the day! Hehe.. Sorry! Sorry! I swear there weren't any cars or tram! The rest of the journey was pretty smooth and I had fun playing with the auto cruise! Great invention because I would not have kept under the speed limit if there wasn't the presence of auto cruise! Total journey time to the tulip farm took about less than an hour.

With such bad weather, I was surprised with the amount of people queuing up at the entrance. Since we are students, we fell under the category of concession. Ticket was priced $3 cheaper than the normal ticket of $15. Once we passed the entrance, it rained cats and dogs! Without any option left, we hid under the canopy. Heavy pouring rain and strong wind for five minutes! We then headed to the first part of the farm. Colourful tulips that greeted us blew the rainy-gloomy-mood away! Our grins became bigger! There were rows and rows and rows of beautiful looking tulips! Yellow, red, orange, pink, peach, purple, white and many more colours.

When we walked further down to the other part of the farm, there were even more tulips arranged nicely in between rows of green grass! The overview of the whole tulip farm was so captivating! Each breath we took was so amazingly fresh! Our minds were so free and relaxing it made us felt like going... Ahhhhhhhhh.....

Rain started pouring again when we were halfway walking on the farm. So potong steam! We had no choice but to endure the freaking cold weather and walking on the muddy path to the canopy. And coincidentally we were at the place where we can pick our own tulips! Crazy rain lasted for about 5 minutes again! Stewwwpeeet Melbourne weather I tell you!

Oh... it wasn't free to pluck the tulips. $1.20 for one stem and $5.00 for five stems. But I got six stems for $5.00! Muahahaha.. I was so ch
eeky I buat tak tau when the fella said, 'Oh... bunch of five?' My friend who saw it said, 'EHHHHHHH????' so loudly I quickly walked away from the fella. I replied, 'Eh dou kam dai seng! Keng sei yan dei teng em dou hai mai?' ('Eh' so loud! Are you worried the fella could not hear you?) The tulips were so gorgeous I could not resist myself to pluck another one! I was actually intending to pay the extra $1.20 but since the fella did not want, what was I suppose to do? =P

I asked my friend, 'The tulips are so beautiful! Take a picture for me!' And this was what he took...

What I meant was take a picture of the flowers AND me! Arrgh!!!

There was a wishing well in the tulip farm that was so f
ake because I could see the bottom of the well! =) And guess what was the other thing I saw beside the well?

Oh wow! I did not know there is a price list existed for the type of wishes! Apparently the cash are donated to some organization.

As I have said before I have planned the outfit for the day. Even though the weather was so cold I could not let go the chance of snapping pictures with the outfit! Regardless of the cold, I took off my jacket and started snapping more pictures. Camwhoring moments!

There aren't many things to do in the tulip farm. But just by looking at the tulips, it was all worth it. Because the tulips made me happy. The tulips made us happy. However, lesson learnt of the day was DO NOT WEAR YOUR FAVOURITE PAIR OF HEELS! The path was so muddy, the weight of my heels increased by 2-fold! All the mud and stones were stuck under my heels and this was what I had to do to get rid of the mud...
